I have a 2001 Toshiba model # 36AF41 36" flat screen TV. When I turn
the set on I get a very small narrow line across the center of the
screen. The rest of the screen is black. Sound is good. Is the
tube bad?
No the tubes not bad. You have a vertical sweep failure. It could be the IC has bad connections on it or there is a part that went bad in the vertical circuit. There are no real user replaceable parts inside thes sets, so unless you know your way arround solid state printed circuit boards and know how to read a schematic, please play it safe and call in a train service person to assist you in this repair.
