hitachi 42v710 has green vertical lines

When i first power on there are 4 green bars on the left and 6 on the right about 2in. wide and about 3in. apart on a black background.  After a min or two the whole screen is fulled with green lines. 1/16 to about  1 1/4".  vertical.

I know this set!  I have seen

I know this set!  I have seen a few in the past couple of years.  It is for those who dont know a nice early LCD projection set from Hitachi.  The biggest problems with this set is the connectors, the connecting cables as well as the LCD driver boards.  Thii=s im sorry to say, If it is not a bad connector, this repair will most likly WILL be an expensive repair.  The LCD driver board has surface mounted LCD driver ICs that uses a matrix type plan, to make each and every segment on the board screen to light up, depending on the color and or color temp.  This is the type of set I would for sure get an extended warranty on, if it is offered. This all would involve replacing the entire light engine assembly.  Im sorry for the bad news my friend, but I have like I said seen this problem before.  Good Luck, and please would you let us know about the progress on this repair and what was done to correct this.

reseated all cables but

reseated all cables but little or no change.  the lines look fewer but nothing esle.

What is a good site to get a "engine drive board"?   show one for $309.00

how solid is the projection lens assy. in these models?  for a better question; do u think the lens maybe defective??

wish i had done my home work before in selected this model,  WARRENTY ENDED OCT. 28, 2006.

I'M not sure of the exact date the set malfunctioned.    #### happens

Oh Man thats stinks.  Call

Oh Man thats stinks.  Call the company, and say you were having a problem before then but you were told it should go away.  I had a friend do that with a sharp LCD and she got it fixed for nothing, a one time thing.

Changing a drive board is not an option in these sets.  There are alignments necessary that only the factory is capable of doing.  You're only recourse is to replace the engine.  I'd suggest contacting Hitachi. Some of their models carried a 3 year warranty on the opt. engine.

okay i will contact hitachi.

okay i will contact hitachi.
?? there are about 40 pages of adjustment instructions in the service manual which are entered by holding power and line buttons, then using <,> v,and ^.
there are tables with ranges of adjustment, and what the hex setting should be.
They call it (I2C perameters). the manual states "if these values are not the same the table (factory value) change them with <,>. So if hitachi will not help me out do u think i should spend 300 on the brd and try, or 1000 on the engine., or say to #### with it and get another set???.
one more ?, what does OSD mean (adjustment mode OSD)

Larry Dillon
OSD means on screen display,

OSD means on screen display, and those adjustments are the service menu adjustment, and I do not think those will help you at this point my friend.
