This could be a problem with the G2 circuit, the akb circuit and or the picture tube itself. Without a schematic diagram and some TV repair know how, you will most likly need to take the set into a repair shop to have it diagnoised. There is something you can try to take off the back of the set, with of course the main AC plug OUT OF THE WALL! Looking at the back of the set, On the right hand side, you will see a medium size block with a heavy red wire comming out of it, going up to the picture tube. On the side of this transformer, you will see small controld. look very closely, as on will be marked "SCREEN". Take that control and turn it just a little bit to the left(counter clockwise. Carfully without touching anything else, plug in the set and turn it on. Does it do the same thing? If it does not, then it is the picture tube or the picture tube drive circuit. if it does not, it is in the 1k blanking or akb drive circuit. Good luck and let us know how you made out.
I've seen this problem and it was caused by a bad CRT.
hi there everyone after reading many replies by larry i thought it sounded like heknew what he was talking and about and guess what hr sure did. the only thing was i hasd to turn it a little clockwise but that is okay . thanks larry it would seem u really know your stuff. but i am curious if i am able to adjust the amount of red in the screen? on this tv it doesnt single out the colors on the onscreen display. If not oh well it works pretty good now and it saved me the trouble of investing in a knew tv right away.
Thanks burningbilly. The reason why it helped is because there is a problem in the picture tube. I have seen peeps though use a set like this for more then 5 years down the road. I have seen it last a week. There is a way to adjust the red coloring in the set but your going to need to go to a service menu to do this , and if you adjust the wrong control. this can really mess up your set. I do have a link that will show you how but I take no responsability at all and if you decide to try it please be carefull. You can find how to adjust in the service mode here http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/sonyad... Good Luck
