ok i have a 56" samsung rear projection HDTV. Model No. PCN5425RX/XAA. The problem is that the power turns on and the timer light blinks but there is no audio or video. I called a samsung authorized repair guy. The guy was chinese and basically came for 10 mins told me there was something wrong with the power circuit board and didnt tell me wut part was broken and took $65 from me for the estimate and said it was gonna cost $450 to fix the tv. I need some help maybe some1 knows wut kind of problems occur in samsng tv's. any adive will be appreciated
Its a really hard call my freind, to say its a power supply or if it is the sweep area of the TV set without first doing some kind of diagnostics. I do know of a shop that make a good living, going out and doing just service calls and collecting a service fee for a off the tip of the head estimate. If you have any TV serviceing experience, you can go here and look up parts that you need for your Samsung TV set. If you do not, please stay safe and call in another pro to get a second opinion. Good Luck and please stay safe and let us know how you handled this and how you made out.
hey thanks for the advice. the guy told me there was a problem with the whole circuit board. i incisted on him to tell me wut part was bad but he jus kept on telling me the whole power circuit board was bad. he said it is upconverting the power, so thats y the tv turned on but no picture or sound. he did something when he was here to make the picture come on but there was no cable wire hooked up so it was jus snow. he wants $450 to fix it . y do ppl jus make up numbers from there head, its proabably a $15 part he was gonna put in and gimme my board back. Im still really mad at the chinese guy. im better off buying a new tv then repairing this 1 for nearly $500. I thought he was chinese and samsung authorized service guy so he wouldnt rip me off but he did. There is a place nearby that does in home estimates for $40. i might go ahead and get a 2nd opinion. TY
Acording to Samsung, the power and deflection board is only $175.00 Check it out. http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.asp?catalog%5Fname=Parts+and+Accessories&product%5Fid=BP94%2D00230A&search%5Fmodel=PCN5425R If that is the problem? May also have a poor solder connection on the board, since you stated he the service man was able to get a picture to come on.
hey does that board come with all the pieces on it( transisters, resisters, capaciters etc) so i can jus unplug all the wires that go into the baord swap the old one with the new one and put the plugs back in and it will work? Or is it just an empty baord and i will have to take all the components out and resolder them into the new one. ur helping me alot ty for that and maybe if u answer this question i can solve the problem myself.
Oh no, those are complete boards with all the parts most of the time. Now every once in a while you will run into a board that will need the transfer of an iC or two, but those will be in sockets anyway. Now this would be a complete gamble on your part my freind, as maybe the old board as I said before only has a bad connection. If you get the board, and it doers not work, it will be your lose as most manuafaturer will not let you return a complete board assy. unless they charge you a restocking fee. This is a hard call and i wont make that call for you as i have not seen the set or had the opitunity to diagnoise it. Get a second opinion first before you invest in a large gamble as this.
good idea i will get a second opinion b4 i go ahead and buy the part and make sure it is the board. also i might open the back up myself and take a look for bad connections or cold connections. i jus want to know wut precautions to take before i do that. like discharge the capacitors and how to do that. i dont wanna get shoked even tho i unpluged the tv. ty for the advice and reply soon
Sounds like the guy disconnected the convergence module in order for the set to come on. Any other type of failure would have made it impossible for him to turn this set on! If you live in the US we can rebuild it for you for $100.00 with a 6 month warranty.
hey wow i am actually coming to bakersfield california around NOV 25 but i cant bring the set with me. i live in NJ. other side of the country. i duont know how much it costs to ship the tv there. maybe i can take the PCB out and bring it with me. the guy said there something wrong with the whole power circuit board. i need to get a second opinion to be sure. i havent opened it up and seen any bad connections. i need to know wut precautions to take b4 i start touching stuff. i need help. plz help me. ty
Thats a good posibility that the guy unplugged the convergence board. You can take out the convergence board if you want and have it rebuilt or go to the site I gave you and get a new board, then you can see what it looks like also.
