I have a Panasonic tv which is about 7 years old and when I turned it on today there is a round globe of color. Does anyone know what might be causing this and could it be an inexpensive repair or should I just replace it all together.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Judy
Your tv is probably magnetized. If you bring anything magnetic near a tv it can get magnetized. Tvs all automatically demagnetize themselves and the circuit in your set may be malfunctioning. Sometimes the part that controls that function just loses contact with the circuit board and needs resoldering. A very simple repair.
The Thermister, or the relay, or the plug connections could be bad or need resoldering. The spot will show up if the set is first turned on and one of these parts that I metioned is intermittant or has a bad solder connection on it. Try unplugging the set, and re-plug back in in 12 to 24 hours. Did the spot go away? If not, has the set taken a fall latly. A fall off the place it is sitting on, or was or has the set been moved recently? if you have no soldering experience or solid state repair experience, please stay safe and call in a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck, and please get back to us and let us know how it was fixed or what you did to correct the problem.
Dear alwaysalready,
Thanks for your reply, but the tv is outa here. Gave my husband an excuse to buy a new LCD 37". What makes him happy, makes me sane!
Sincerely,
Judy
Dear Larry,
Thanks for your reply, I tried to unplug it for about 18 hours, as you suggested to no avail, but the tv is outa here. Gave my husband an excuse to buy a new LCD 37". What makes him happy, makes me sane!
Sincerely,
Judy
Dear Larry,
We donated it to the Goodwill.
Good for you, I was going to suggest to see if someone local could use it.
Too bad you sold it, could have been corrected in a few minutes at little or no cost. Hopefully the person that gets it from Goodwill will realize nothings really wrong with it.
I have repaired many a sets folks get I know from the Good Will store. Lot's of poor folks around here. There are some that are toast but there are more that are not.
