Hitachii 42pD3200 plasma tv buzz problem

Hi

My tv has developed a mains sounding buzz when power turned on - it stays until TV turned off. If I mute the speakers the buzz is still there, but does not appear to be coming from the mains area

Any ideas on how to diagnose?

 thanks

Need a little more

Need a little more information please.  Is it comming from the speakers them self?  From the back of the set.  When you say mains, are you talking about the suround sound system, or the tV set speakers?  Have you tryed to turn off the suround sound system if you have one and leave the TV on?

Hi

Hi

The sound is comming from the rear of the TV and remains when the spears are muted - the sound decreases if the TV is left on for a peroid of 3-4 hours but returns if you tun the tv off andd on

thanks

Well it could be a

Well it could be a transformer, coil or deflection yolk ringing.  Is it high pitched or a low sound?

This is a common problem on

This is a common problem on these plasma TV's. The problem resides in the high voltage boards known as the X and Y Sustain boards.. You can purchase them here for a very reasonable price:
http://www.discount-merchant.com/Y-SUSTAIN-FOR-42-PLASMA-TV-PN-6871QYH03...

The above link is to a Y-SUS board. The X-Sus board is often the 2nd cause of failure and can be found here:
http://www.discount-merchant.com/X-SUSTAIN-6871QZH041B-6870QZE017D-6871Q...

To test which board is failing, you need to check voltage input to the YSUS board first... Input should be 120V from Power supply, output should be above 250V.. Do this test with XSUS disconnected. IF 250+V exists, then XSUS is damaged. If not, then the YSUS is the faulty part.
