I have a Toshiba Television and I'm having a problem that I need help with. For the past few weeks I notice thin lines about 7 or 8 at the top of my TV. I wonder why? When I'm watching an old black and white movie the lines seem to fade but I see them with I'm watching in color or when the lines can't fade. What could it be?
Thanks
I also have a Toshiba (2003 27AF43) that has developed horizontal solid white lines along the top of the screen. The white lines appear all the time: tv alone, dvd, vcr. It's about two weeks now and the number of lines seem to be increasing with the bottom line appearing broken not solid. What causes this?
I have the same problem as helpwithtv
helpwithtv, nefer916 and mango, thanks for coming to techlore and hope you have a look around. Ok folks, this is a very common problem with the Toshiba TV sets. Most likly it is two small red and black capacitors standing next to each other by the large videojungle/sweep drive IC. If those are not the problem the I vertical output IC could be bad or a waveshaping capacitor around the IC could be bad. Also I have found the B+ filter capacitor that feed the B+ to the vertical ic to be leaky or changed values. Now these are repairs the unexperienced person should not attempt as there is alot of Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are unplugged. A shop should not cost you over 100 bucks to fix this . if they do they are taking advantage of you. let us know how you all made out and Good Luck
Hi, I have a similar problem. My lines will only appear when the TV first starts up (cold) and will disappear gradually after about thirty seconds. My unit is a 2003 Toshiba 27".
Should I go ahead and call my on-site service provider? I've got the extended service plan until December, so I'm covered even if it needs replacing.
Thx...
You have bad waveshaping capacitors, bad b+ supply to the vertical IC or driver circuit, or the vertical output IC itself is bad. I'm afraid this is going to take some troubleshooting on the printed circuit board. If you have no solid state experience, play it safe and take the set into a TV repair shop. Good Luck, and let us know what you find wrong with your TV set.
I just got it back from the shop today. The invoice states that the following parts needed to be replaced:
BZ 110032
72794410
AD301321
I suspect that it was an 'all of the above' sort of answer, but I don't know what those part numbers designate.
Thanks, though!
Those part numbers are all capactors. Those are Toshiba part numbers. May i ask what you repair bill was?
