I have a 60" RCA rear projection tv. Last night it starting changing channels on its own. When I tried the remote, it would not do anything. I tried turning off the tv with the power button on the tv and no go!! I finally unplugged it.Wen I plugged it back in, it did the same thing (kept changing channels) I unplugged it again, and then it would not come back on. Any help will be appreciated.
Take out the batterys out of the remote and see if that stops the channels from changing. If not, look at the buttons on the TV set that change the channels, do they both feel the same when you press on each one separatly? They should have a little detent action there, a small click, or it feels like the button is hitting something and giving way. If one feels like its not moving then the button rubber membraine is bad or the switch is bad and activated all the time. That would make the set not operate also, because the microprocessor is already getting a button command and can handle only one command at a time. Try prying up the button or you will need to open the set and replacing a tact switch or the board assy. If you have no repair experience, please contact a trained service person to do this repair for you, as this set has alot of high voltage even when it is unplugged. If all the buttons look good, then the remote sensors , the small signal capacitors on the remote lines, and /or the button matrix, or the microprocessor is bad. Please get back with us and let us know how you made out. Good Luck
