Have a Hitachi T.V./vcr. The t.v. continually turns off on it's own. Sometimes after seconds, sometimes it might stay on for 5-10 minutes. I have tried using the remote to correct (i.e., timer mode, etc). NO such luck. Any ideas? No owners manual available either, of course.

Hitachi t.v./vcr - turns off constantly
message re hitachi turning itself off mine too did you ever find out why...I thoughgt it might be something to do with the standby switch
There is most likly a bad solder connection on the printed circuit board someware, or there is a power regulator circuit with an intermittant part that goes bad with heat. This is a tough call untill you open the set and monitor the power supply voltage and /or the shutdown circuit trigger voltage. If the shutdown circuit is turning on, most of the time the fault is in the horizontal sweep or High voltage circuit. These repairs are not for the ens user or owners to attempt as there are no user serviceable parts inside these sets and should be worked on by a trained tech. Problem is, alot of these types of sets will cost more to repair then to buy a new one. If the sets older then two to three years old, I would just chuck it and get me a shiney new one. Let us know how you made out and good Luck
