Laptop thinks it has two monitors

I have a user that uses her laptop to connect to her projector but when she is done and disconnects, her laptop thinks it has two monitors and displays the desktop in the center of the screen.  I have gone into properties but there is no option to delete the second monitor. I can get it to display correctly by telling it to display on the first monitor only but whenever she connects to her projector again it reverts back to the center display.  My Question is - is there some way to get her laptop to automatically display correctly once she disconnects from her projector? I am not always at her site and she can't remember how to go in and change it....

Try restarting the laptop

Try restarting the laptop ounce she is done using the projector.
