Does anyone know how to create a playlist on a Philips SA261/17 GoGear Player?

I received this player for Xmas and the one item i cannot figure out is how to create a playlist on the device. I use windows media 10. I can add folders to the device but can never figure out how to add the music to that folder. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

CuriousMom
I am having the same problem.

I am having the same problem. We just purchased this and want to use the playlists to organize the music. Any ideas.

You must create the playlists

You must create the playlists in Windows Media Player first before you transfer them to the device. It is not possible to create a playlist on this player on the fly.

I created the playlist, then

I created the playlist, then did a sync to the MP3 player. the playlist did not show just but the tracks showed un All tracks.

With your device plugged into

With your device plugged into your computer, are you following these instructions? This is the only way to get playlists on your device.

1. Launch Windows Media Player from Windows desktop or Start menu.

2. To transfer files from your computer to your device, click Copy to CD or Device (WMP 9)or
Sync(WMP 10) tab.

3. In the Items to Copy pane, in the drop-down list, click the playlist, category, or other item that you want to copy.

4. Clear the check boxes next to any files you do not want to copy.

5. In the Items on Device pane, in the drop-down list, click the device that you want to copy files
to. i.e. Philips GoGear*.

6. Click the Copy (WMP 9) or Start Sync(WMP 10) button.

Once this is done, you should see your Playlists under the "Music" menu.

Ron,I followed the

Ron,
I followed the instructions. I have constructed 3 playlists in WMP10. I clicked sync. In the drop down list I clicked the plays list. On the MP3 player, the tracks showed up in all tracks! and no play list "at all" appeared! could it be a problem in my MP3?

Did you specifically click on

Did you specifically click on the playlists to sync? If so, might be a problem with your device.

I followed the same instructions and having the same issues as titan67. Should we call Philips and see what they say? I can't return mine because of it being a present. Please Advise!

At this point, I would call them. Your device should still be under warranty. Let everyone know what you find!

I have tried all above steps,

I have tried all above steps, with no success, also have stumbled upon something on philips faq/site that said to use MusicMatch JukeBox to transfer playlists to the player, with no success their either. This seems like a frustrating feature that never got finished if you ask me. Also, their site has said for the last 4 months that they will release updated firmware for WMP11 after it is out of beta, it has been for just over 2 months, and still nothing from Philips. This company sounds like a joke if you ask me.

Hi...i had the same mp3

Hi...i had the same mp3 gogear and i couldn't add mp3 to playlist...the tracks showed up in all tracks..but my brother found a solution:)

To create a playlist you have to create a folder in Media Player.

I couldn't add tracks to a playlist in Media  Player 10, but in Media Player 9 everything works !!!

If you have a same problem, follow the instruction (above by Ron Repking) but in Media Player 9 !!! There is something wrong with Media Playr 10....

Good luck:)

I found a way to make my

I found a way to make my gogear vibe create playlists with windows media player 11:

1) open WMP 11
2) connect device: your device must be set up to 'sync permanently' on the
computer you are using, otherwise you can't add playlists with your names
to the gogear. also, if you want to delete things from your player you
need to 'sync temporarily' on a computer other than the one your gogear
is permanent with.
3) create playlists; name and save as '.M3U' file
4) click 'sync' tab: select 'gogear vibe', select 'set up sync', choose from
playlists in left pane and click 'add' to move them to the right pane; check
'sync automatically' box, ensure 'shuffle on sync' box is UNCHECKED, ensure
player is not overfull, click 'OK'

Actually you don't have to

Actually you don't have to entirely rely on your Windows Media Player to create a playlist, I'll give you guys some easy steps to create a playlist.

One- Get all the music on your computer to your MP3.
Two- Go to "All Songs" in your MP3 Player.
Three- Select a song that you'd like to be on your play list and play it.
Four- While the song is playing, push one of the side buttons that says "Options".
Five- There will be an "Add to Playlist" option, click it and it will take you to your three playlists. Select the playlists and click yes to save it on there.

Hope that clears all of your questions up. :)

Heya...I think I worked

Heya...I think I worked something out while trying to solve the problem.

You can create a playlist by creating a new folder on the computer with all of the songs you want in it and naming it 'playlist 1' for example. Put this among the folders of artists that you get when you view the music on the mp3 from the computer.

Then when you use your mp3 and get to the first menu that allows you to choose 'music, recordings etc', go on 'folder view'-->'music'---> then all the folders of artists will be displayed, your 'playlist 1' folder included in the list, so listen to it from there :)

Hope that helps! x

I have had my Phillips GoGear

I have had my Phillips GoGear mp3 player for years now and I got really frustrated because I had made playlists before but had forgot how. I finally "re"figured it out! Connect device to computer. Choose the option to open device to view files. Double click on internal storage. Right click on music folder and a menu will appear. Click on create playlist. This will make a new playlist that contains ALL songs on the device. You then must go in and delete all the songs you do not want on the playlists. A little time consuming but remember to hold control and click on the songs you want to delete. Using this method, you can highligh many songs at once and then use the red X to delete them from the playlist. Hope this helps!
