have a Creative Zen Xtra MP3 Player, when I plug it into the computer (Via Usb) the computer shows nothing connected, when I plug my husband's player (Xact same player) it works fine, this is fairly new problem, and so I attempeted reset and format, but all that did was erase everthing on the player and since I can't reload it until the computer reads it...I can't use it. So I am thinking that there is something wrong with the usb on the player and want to know if I can fix it, replace it, or have it repaired...or test the port to see if it is bad? There is no longer a warranty on the player and I don't want to just have to dish out another two hundred bux...Can anyone help...
1. Try replacing the cord that connects the player to the computer.
2. Are you using a USB extension cable. Remove it if you are.
3. Try plugging the Zen into a different computer. Is it recognized?
4. Did you plug your husband's player into the exact same port?
. Try replacing the cord that connects the player to the computer.
The cord works with my husbands player.
2. Are you using a USB extension cable. Remove it if you are. Nope...Just the cable that came with the player.
3. Try plugging the Zen into a different computer. Is it recognized? Don't have access to another computer
4. Did you plug your husband's player into the exact same port? Yes...We both have the xact same player and I usually just load them one right after another with no problems...that is why I think there may be something wrong with the port on the player itself. I just wanted to know if I can repair or replace just the port and if there is a test of some kind to confirm that the port is bad.
I am having the same problem and it's really frustrating. I have this awesome MP# player and I can't use it. I've tried everything you've tried, I even went and bought a new USB cord. Nothing. Were you able to get this issue resolved? What did you have to do?
Nope...no resolution, I just bought a new one. They say I can send it back for repair so I may do that in the future...
I am seeing a similar problem, computer does recognize as mass storage device but media player and creative organizer do not recognize any device. another device does work fine when connected, are there any new ideas??
Yes, I figured it out. At least what my problem was. I went to the creative web site and downloaded the driver for windows xp professional. Mine works now. Hope this helps.
