Is it my tv or cable box?

The trouble started several months ago. When my tv was on for any length of time, the color gets very orange looking. The tv repairman told me to play a dvd. the color was good. He told me it was my cable box. I returned the box and got a hd dvr box. I'm having the same problem. I took the cable from the wall and hooked it directly into my tv. the color was fine. I took the cable box and hooked it to anouther tv, the color was fine. I give up. Right now, If I watch tv through my dvd player, the color is ok. Should I have the tv or the cable guy back?

are you playing the cable

are you playing the cable boix through the RF or the video plugs?  If its the RF, there may be a slight problem with the tuner in the TV set but its because the RF out on the cable may be a bit high for that tv set.  i have had in the past is use an antenuator for the RF output from the cable box.  Try using the Video plugs into the TV set directly like you do with the DVD player and see if it works good.  A 2 to 3 DB antenuator should help on your RF line if the cable box works good on video.  Get back with us and let us know please.  Good Luck

I checked, and its hooked

I checked, and its hooked directly into the tv. The tv is a sony trinitron high def kv-32hs500 about 4 years old. I think its more likely the tv, only because I've replaced  the cable box 3 times in the past month, and I've always had the cable box hooked the same way, never had a problem until recently. The only difference now is the color goes bad within a half an hour of being on instead of a couple of hours like before.
