I have a RCA tv and the remote that come with the tv. The remote has worked before but I cannot get the remote to turn on the tv or change either the channel or volume. I put new batteries in the remote. I have turned off the tv and unplugged it for 10 mins. Still nothing. The tv is not even a year old yet. And unversial remote did not work either. Any ideas
Something may have come unplugged from the front control panel or you are using the wrong remote.
Remotes work by sending binary in infrared beams the only way to see infrared beams from an LED is with a camcorder.Take your cell phone camera and watch the end of the remote control while you push a button, watch the LED on the end that sends the signal that doesnt light up to the human eye.If it lights up on camera then the remote is good and something is either wrong with the receiving led on the tv or the IC-Integrated Circuit- that interprets the binary,or you have something blocking/interfering with the signal.Try taking the remote and putting it right on the recieving LED of the tv and try turning the channel.
I have done that and I see the light. I have tried the remote right in front of the receiving LED and nothing happens
You can interpret binary with an oscilloscope at the IC,got one handy? If not lets check some other alternatives, maybe a wire just came loose inside. What model is it?
I cant find a Service Manual for that model,so I cant even offer you disassembly instructions, more than likely its an issue with the IR receiving sensor on the tv or the IC,The IC isnt a user replaceable part.
It is the remote that come with the TV. The universal on was a Phillips
