My Mitsubishi WD-62825 is about 7 years old. Now, when first turned on, the TV picture is fine, then after about 20 minutes, there are rolling horizontal lines on the screen. It does not matter what the input signal (RCA, HDMI, component video, coaxial) is to the TV.
Sometimes the TV would just automatically power off by itself. When checking for the error code, it is 12 (no error detected). I unplug the power to the TV and then plug it back, the TV can be powered back on and stays on but with the rolling lines still present.
Any thoughts for this kind of repair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Will do. Thanks Evil. I am not sure how to post pics on this website. My kid fell asleep and left the TV on all night, finally turned it off, and now I can not turn it back on with the remote (not due to weak batteries). I will try a few things to see if I can get the TV back on.
Thanks again for reading about my TV problem and responding.
Evil, got the pic and a short video clip which is more clear but unable to figure how to insert for you to see. Since the remote was not working after a normal shutdown, I unplug the TV and waited for 5 minutes, then plugged the TV power cord back into the wall socket. The TV remote was then able to turn the TV on.
If you let me know how I can get the picture to you, I will do that. Thanks again for your assistance.
where it says quick reply above the box where you respond there is a green link that says (or go advanced) click that button then there will be a link insert media or pictures or if you have a Youtube account you can upload the video there and leave a link here for it.
Evil, Finally was able figure out how to use YouTube to post a very short clip of the TV problem. Link is

I still have picture but have the horizontal green lines rolling across the entire screen
thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide
Its not retrace lines like I thought it may be.Does it do it on all sources of video? dvd player , inputs 1 2 3 4 5? If it does it on all sources id say yor signal board is bad.
thanks for the quick response, Evil. Yes, unfortunately it does that on all sources of video. I did not try the PC input. Signal PWB? I will concentrate on that PWB. I had previously replaced two caps on the power PWB for a previous problem that fixed the 'no picture' problem.
Much appreciation for your guidance.
Had one bad cap on the Signal PWB, C9C13 which is 2200 microfarrads, 10 v, 85 degC. It was bulging. However, changing it did not help. Have picture and sound but the horizontal lines are still there. The TV now turns off after less than 10 minutes and the green light keeps flashing. I can't even get the error code. Unplugging the power cord and plugging it back into the wall power allowed me to turn the TV to be back on again. Then it turns off in about 10 minutes as before and the timer (power) button on the TV keeps blinking green.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
How many times does it blink?Could be an indication of whats wrong with it instead of getting a numerical number you get it in flashes when your not able to view the tv.It should blink a few times then pause then blink somemore before repeating or blink 9 times or less pause and repeat. I have to ask did you get the polarity right when you installed the capacitor?also if that one was buldged im willing to bet others on the same circuit are possibly bad but with out the signs of it.
Thanks for the quick response, Evil.
The light blink 'forever'. Would not stop until I plugged the power cord off the wall socket and recycled power. I think I have solved that problem. I disassembled the TV again and hooked up all the connections with the parts outside the TV frame. The fan above the circuit cards did not spin. So sure enough everything got hot fast and TV shut off as before. I swapped the fans around and so I know the fans are okay and it is the wiring to the fan above the circuit board that is faulty.
I used a floor fan and put a fan directly above the circuit cards. The TV has stayed on for 2 hours so far. So that solves the shutoff problem although I still need to troubleshoot the fan wiring.
Good point that other caps may now be bad without showing the bulge. The horizontal lines are now diagonal. There is another cap of the same value on that Signal board. Yes, I double checked to make sure I have the cap installed with the right polarity by first taking a photo of the board with the bad cap and also seeing the + and - on the back side of board for that cap.
Thanks for your advice.
while your on the war path you may want to have a look at this http://www.techlore.com/download/25253/Mitsubishi-WD-5xxx-DLP-Repair-Guide/
if you havent replaced these caps yet you may as well go ahead and do that so you dont have to be back inside of the tv in the near future.

thanks Evil. A lot of good material. I had previously downloaded the service manual material but the extra word docs are very helpful. Appreciate very much the link.
For the fan problem, it looks like not the wiring or fan itself. The problem resides in the small fan control board. I took that wiring off and connected the fan to a connector prior to the fan control board and the fan turned on. However, it won't turn off until I pull the power plug from the wall socket because I surmise that there is no temperature control shutoff for that fan anymore in this hookup I just made. This is to the fan on top of the major circuit PWBs.
With all the fans circulating, all the assemblies still outside of the TV frame, and using a small desk fan on top of the PWBs, the lines are not as bad but still noticeably present when source is HDMI, or coaxial. However, the component video source connected from my HD cable gave a much better picture with only very small horizontal lines present barely noticeable.
As a sidenote, this TV has a hard drive on it. Shows I recorded a long time ago, I played back today and the picture was very sharp with absolutely no horizontal lines from this source.
Thank you for your comments and guidance, Evil.
