mitsubishi ws55819 not working

I picked up a ws55819 yesturday. When i plug the tv in the green light on the front will blink 3 times then turn off. I read that this means the microproccess is functioning. I did a error code and got 22. Short protect curcit. I've read a million threads on you just have to replace the capacitors on the DM module. This is where my problem starts. This tv does not have a DM module located where everyone elses is, I'm assuming it just doesn't have one. What or where else could be the locations of these capacitors that may or may not be blown. I also could only find one fuse on the whole PCB and it is working fine. I have already bought the capacitors, just trying to find the right ones to replace.  My email is [email protected].

Wrong chassis you have the 18

Wrong chassis you have the 18,only the 21,24 & 26{I believe}have the bad caps.It could be bad convergence ic's remove them and see if the tv comes on.

OK, that makes me feel a little bit better about buying this kit from tvrepairkits.com. It says it comes with replacement convergence chips and resistors, and a step by step photo instructions. I will get back with ya on what happens. Thanks

You should remove the old chips and see if the tv comes on before buying the kit just to ensure thats whats wrong with it.

Thanks evil for the help. It

Thanks evil for the help. It was the chips. I got the parts yesturday and put them in last night. I replaced the two chips and two pico fuses. Now the tv turns one, yeah. Been playing with the convergence settings, trying to line up the cross hairs, but don't seem to be moving much, it seems like the cross hairs move a bit but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. I read that this could be the resistors that are next to the ic chips, but maybe its my cheap universal remote (the insturctions also said trying to let the tv warm up for 20 minutes and then trying the settings, so it is warming up right now). but now the screen has started to pulse, so i'm thinking i might have to pull the pcb back out and check the resistors. What do you think?

evil
You definitely should have

You definitely should have checked the convergence resistors BEFORE you put the new chips in.Which menu are you using to try and adjust the crosshairs, the user menu or the service menu? You should let the set warm up before attempting to adjust it,expecially since you have new chips, when you first turn on the set all of the components are cold so there values are different than when they are at normal operating temperature or hot.So if you set it while they are still cold it will move when they warm up.Plus it's always a good idea to let the new components burn in.Probably wouldn't hurt to go back in a month or so and align it again.

Alright. Well, I checked the

Alright. Well, I checked the resistors and they checked out. A couple were iffy so I just replaced them. I hooked up a DVD player and letting it play. I have no video though, I do have sound. Any wording from volume or menu settings comes up, just no video. I go into menu, advance features, then convergence. The cross hairs do not move at all, I noticed I can use the buttons on the tv to play with menu, so I've been using that cuz the remote acts up sometimes. But again convergance settings won't change.

evil
If the convergence setting

If the convergence setting wont change either the remote your using isnt working like the original or there is still some resistors or pico fuses blown. When you took the original chips out did it have any kind of picture even a distorted one?

rustin
No, no picture or anything. I

No, no picture or anything. I did read that after changing out the chips I should reprogramm the TV. I just picked up another remote with more features on it. Going to go try the remote out now.I am wondering though if i should put the old chips back in. I'm kinda thinking maybe the tv didnt work just because of the blown pico fuses. And maybe the chips are fine. But not sure if i should.

evil
That was going to be my next

That was going to be my next suggestion since you can see the tv's display.Make sure your on the right input. The pico fuses blew to protect the rest of the circuits because the old chips shorted out,DO NOT PUT THEM BACK IN!!!

rustin
Ok, I've got the right remote

Ok, I've got the right remote now. I programmed all the adjustment functions, and the convergence misc, but the convergence coarse and fine mode will not adjust. There is also supposed to be a cross hatch on the screen when I go into convergence mode, but there is not. The coarse and fine modes will only move from -35 to -37, everything in coarse and fine is set to -36, not sure why it wont let me set the proper values. (not sure if this means anything but ive only tryed/done all of this in the SD mode in convergence settings)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_LFRsP0Py4 Here is a link to a video i put up on you tube. I couldnt get any pictures to post.

I did get the Horizantil data to move, the one to the left on the sd fine green, screen, but only the one on the left, and it dont save. I am going to keep reading this manual to see if i can figure anything else out. But tomorrow though, im tired. Thanks for your help.

evil
You definitely should not be

You definitely should not be changing data in the eprom blindly, atleast not without writing the factory data down, thats a good way to render a tv NON FUNCTIONAL. You need to be looking for a more simple answer, Like the tv being set to HD while you are trying to supply it with NTSC signal,or no signal, perhaps the previous owner had it set to HD.You said you have a dvd player hooked up to it,with coaxle or AV cables?have you hooked it up to cable yet? Can you post another video of the user menu on the screen?

rustin
My dvd is AV cables only, but

My dvd is AV cables only, but I hooked up a digital converter box up to the Ant-A using coaxle, still no go with the video. (just audio).

Sweet, got it figured out. I

Sweet, got it figured out. I asked the tvrepair support and they gave me a little list to checks.

Here are common reasons

1) loose cable, misplaced cable, missing cable.

2) busted board-2board wire bridge...check them carefully for broken wires.

3) flyback wires loose - if you removed rhe flyback wires start here...

4) tube knobs adjusted...if you adjusted the knobs inside the tv for the tubes they will shut off...let us know if these were adjusted

Thanks,

The problem was in the wire bridge. There are 6 on my board. 2 on one side and 3 on the other. 3 of the 6 had one pin on the very end not all the way pushed in. So i poped them in and turned on the tv and had video. Sweet!! Thanks for your help evil. If you hadn't given me the advice you did I probably would have royaly screwed the tv. Thanks!!

Glad to hear you got it

Glad to hear you got it running, thanks for letting us know what the problem was. Congradulations on the repair.
