I have an RCA D52W20 rear projection, HDTV. Recently, the power has been shutting off all by itself. We've changed the batteries in the remote, tried plugging the television into other outlets, and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?

I have a very similar problem. I spoke with a repairman earlier today, and he will see it Monday. Will fill y'all in with results.
Thanks so much! I'd like some info before I sink too much money into repairing mine. These days, TVs are pretty cheap, and if it's gonna be a coupla hundred dollars to fix it, I may as well buy a brand new set.
You're very welcome! To tell the truth, I expect to pay at least $200, and won't be surprised if it's more. The thing is, the RCA has a great picture, and hooked up to a Sony 600 watt surround sound makes for a great combo. We'll see soon what the verdict is.
Tech here today! Numerous soldering, but a few loose wires were there, and all went well. Lots of cleaning, and after all was said & done, I have the picture which I brought the set for to begin with, beautiful! Cost wound up bein $200.00, and that included house call. I am happy, that's the story.
Well, glad to hear it! Oddly enough, ours has been parked in the corner of the dining room for a few weeks. Tried to turn it on yesterday, and it's working fine now. I'm thinking that maybe I had a voltage irregularity, and the capacitor needed to discharge. Whatever the case, at least it's working! Thanks for the help though!
i am having the same exact problem with the power. please help me out if you can with diagnostic and fee to fix, or any other problems with this set, that woud cause power to on/off 3 times then stay off. i got the tv, given to me used, and i plugged it in the first night i got it, watched for 9 hours, pressed the power button to turn it off, and that was 2 days ago, now it takes about 10 tries and it will come on but only for 2 minutes with a picture, then cuts off by itself. any help at all would be greatly appreciated, i want to make sure its worth it to fix. and how much $. hello peeps long time member so i have a 52 rca model number d52w20 last night i was watching tv and the pic went out for about two seconds and then back on sounds never was interupted i was like hmmmm strange but today after work tv did the same thing for two seconds i tried pluggin it to a fdifferent outlet and seem it works fine know but i only had it on this new outlet for 2 hours now any ideas i did some research like always and came out that maybe it has a leakage in one of the crt or power supply has loose ribbons any ideas peeps thanks and techlore rules
hello peeps i would like to update my research i have a bulged cp on my tv set .... is cp114 is really bad cp120 looks good but for some reason i cant find cp150 i found cp140 could it be this cp is the one im looking which looks good too know my question is should i get the same one cp114 220uf 35v thanks a lot peeps cant wait to finish another project with you guys help techlore rules!!!!!!!!!!!!
