So it appears as if one of the convergence chips died on my tv. After dealing with a picture that looks half 3D and half...semi-regular I scraped together the $46 dollars for the two convergence IC's. My wife is pissed at me, due to the fact that I just wasted $46 dollars on two parts and that we can't afford to replace the one we have. Like I said... I replaced the convergence IC's (STK392-560) with new units. After turning the tv back on it has some sort of vertical pincushion. Additionally each color appears to be rotated slightly horizontally through the center of the TV. If "flash focus" is pressed while in PJE mode, "ERROR G C/SK ADJ LOOP OVER" appears. At this point while using the grid in PJE mode, none of the colors are able to be adjusted. I found a pdf file of the service menu so I do have the schematics, but I cannot find my error. Any help fixing this TV and getting me off the couch would be greatly appreciated.
BTW.. have spent hours searching the forum, and cannot find a similar situation. I hope I'm not asking a question that has been asked several times. I apologize to anybody I annoy.
Are both of the new chips getting warm after the tv has been on for a while?Where did you get the new chips from?
No the chips are not getting warm. I live near Portland, OR and fortunately there is a supplier locally called Pac Parts. (www.pacparts.com).
There should be some feedback or return resistors & circuit protectors/pico fuses around the IC's,have you tested them?Im having trouble locating the service manual for this model so I cant tell you which ones. Are you shure its not kp53h"s"30?Did you put new heat sink compound on the new IC,s?
