HDMI switches don't work

I have three computers with HDMI outputs that I want to connect to my Mitsubishi tv. Here's the problem, all of the computers display perfectly when they are individualy connected to a HDMI input port on the tv, but if I try to use a HDMI switch to connect to the tv, the image on the tv doesn't change: it seems to stay "stuck" on it's last connection thru the switch. It seems as though the electronics inside of the HDMI switch won't allow a change when another channel is selected.  I have tried three different HDMI swichers, all from different manufactures with the same result. Is this normal behavior for these type of switches? I would suspect the tv is the reason for the problem, but I'm just useing a HDMI input, so I'd tend to think that if it's input changes, then it would change too. Anybody else get a HDMI switch to work?

Which switches have you tried

Which switches have you tried, if I can ask?

Most likely, you're running into HDCP or EDID issues when the HDMI signal is dropped and replaced with another one. If you power off the TV and turn it back on, does it then work?

Well, I tried (once again) a

Well, I tried (once again) a 3-port HDMI switcher and it worked perfectly (switched to the correct computer input) last night. When I booted up this morning, no good, back to not switching, frozen on the first screen. This is a switch from IO Gear, which I always tought was legit. This is very vexing, because I have to just turn off power to the unreporting computers. Not very good. This is puzzleing to me. I don't know what HDCP or EDID mean. I just know that it doesn't work.

When you say it's frozen, do

When you say it's frozen, do you mean that the switch is frozen and will no longer switch, or that the image on the TV is frozen from one computer even though you've switched to another one?

HDCP is a copy protection protocol, which is a complete pain in the ass when it comes to stuff like this. EDID is how the TV describes itself to the PC.

If you can, please describe in detail the problem you're having and how you're trying to use all this stuff. How it's all connected would also be helpful.

Example:

It's connected like this...

I have computer 1 on and the TV on, I see the image on the screen and it works fine. I press the button on the switch to switch to computer 2, which is also on, but then...

Well, as I said on my last

Well, as I said on my last post, it's a very confuseing situation. Twice now, with the same model HDMI swicther, when I initial power up all three computers, the switch appears to function as it should, swiching video outputs from the three different computers. So then I spend some time on one of the computers and the switching function ends. What I have then is the switcher "locked" on the screen from the computer that I have been using. If I switch to another input, the screen is frozen, no mouse movement, no keyboard input, just stuck on the last screen. When I switch back to the computer that I have been using, all is back to normal, mouse moves, keyboard inputs like normal. This is way I descibe the switch as " stuck". And it has done the same thing with three different swicher, different manufactures. Anyway, that what I get and I don't understand it. Is it the switch unit, the TV, God's will, I don't know. I could just be useing crappy cheap (around $20) swiches. There are more expensive units available, but I balk at spending $100 or more for a switch. That's my story and I'm afraid that I'm at an end here and will just have to use all of the tv's inputs and call it quits.
