I need to save my favorite old cassettes to cd's, but I need some advise. I assume that I need to connect the outout of a cassette deck to the input port of computer(dedicated sound card or integrated on the motherboard), then use some sort of software in the recording process. That's about all I know, can someone recomend the sort of software that I would need here? Thanks.
You've got the process pretty much right. If you're looking for a free version of recording/capture software for PC, Audacity is pretty much the standard: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
If you're on a Mac, I'd use Garage Band, which often ships with the computer. If not, you can buy it at an Apple store.
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into audacity.
