The chassis was rebuilt by mitz 2 years ago. Now when I turn it on the fans all start like they should but I get no picture or sound and then the red lamp light comes on solid. I put in a new lamp but still get error code 34. When I look thru the side above the filter in a dark room the lamp comes on for a few seconds then goes off. Is this a problem with the lamp ballast or the light engine. Thank for any help I can get.
V26 code 34 is lamp abnormality. When you said mitsu rebuilt the chassis what exactly did they do? http://www.techlore.com/download/25253/Mitsubishi-WD-5xxx-DLP-Repair-Guide/
Thanks for the help Evil. The service place sent it to Mits for the rebuild. Total cost was $814.30. I did have a service contract that paid for the repair.Part # showing on my invoice is 955B298003.
When they "fixed" it last time was it doing the same thing it is doing now? Also was it still in warranty 2 years ago when it had to be repaired, did you buy it new?how long was it bought before it had to be worked on the first time.
The repair was for the blinking green light 4 years after I bought the tv new. I had a 5 year warranty on it at the time of repair which paid for it.
Looks like they replaced it with another board with the same problematic capacitors. Above is a file that contains the fix with improved capacitors. If your electronically inclined you can save your self alot of money and can do it with out replacing the entire board.....
I think I will replace the lamp ballast and hope for the best since the green light is not flashing like the first time it was repaired.
Also it may just need a lamp replaced, being six years old,im not shure what the life expectency is on them. Ive heard many people say that if you need a new lamp you may as well change the ballast because its not going to last long pushing the new lamp.
When the red light came on I did put a new lamp in. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy a new lamp ballast.
http://www.rivervalleyelectronics.net/Mitsubishi_Ballasts_s/40.htm see if it's compatible with your lamp model.
I removed the back of the tv and then turned it on. I could see light from the lamp for about 10 seconds and then no light but tv ran for about a minute, then turned off and had the solid red lamp light. If the lamp ballast was bad would the lamp turn on for 10 second and then go off.
Yes,capacitors are cheap insurance they shouldn't be over 15 bucks. And you can check them for free, doesn't cost a thing.
