I have a JVC AV-32980 TV that has no picture and just white noise for sound when it is powered on. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot the problem and/or a posible fix is much appreciated.
By white noise I mean just audio static. No picture. No channel indication. No Menu. There is power since the LED lights up and one can see the orange glow in the back of the pictue tube.

this? Would it be as easy as replacing the tv tuner? I tried using a
VCR's tuner (hooked up vcr, set the tv's channel to 3) but that didn't

These two problems sound like tuner trouble, especially if you can connect a dvd player and get good sound and picture. To watch regular channels try using the video (rca jacks) on the back of your cable box and connect them to the video in on your tv. If you are using a round coax cable from your antenna then connect to the back of a vcr. Next connect video cables (rca cables) from the video out on the vcr to the video in on your tv. You may have to go into the menu of the vcr and set to to line in, now you can use the tuner in your vcr to watch regular tv.
When you say "white noise", are you referring the classic "snow channel" or is it different?
Is this only with the TVs tuner? Do line-level devices like a DVD player still work?
