Sony KV-27TS29

I am reparing the above Sony TV there is a 4 inch black bar across the bottom of the screen so the picture is pushed up, I do not see any vertical adjustment controls on the circuit board. Any suggestions as to where to concentrate is appreciated.

Thats a straight tube tv,not my forte, but I can give you the manual for it that has the convergence procedure maybe you can make heads of tails of it.Here you go http://www.techlore.com/download/30971/sony-model-kv-27ts29-32-36-32ts36...

Thanks for the response evil,

Thanks for the response evil, but is it because the neck of the crt is long why it's called a straight tube, also based on the problem I posted would you think the problem is related to the vertical circuit

Straight tube or straight

Straight tube or straight view, refers to all colors coming from one tube instead of separate tubes for each color. If you cant adjust it via the instructions in the manual it most likely is.

I tried going into the

I tried going into the service menu but where the information should appear is off the screen so I don't know if I actually got into the menu, I am therefore not able to go to vertical adjustment, but I am sure this problem can be solved somehow it's just to know how

Vertical adjustment can also

Vertical adjustment can also be achieved via the tabs on the Deflection Yoke as explained on page 36. 2 tabs represent the BMC 2 tabs represent the purity and 2 tabs represent the vertical stat. Mark these tabs before you move anything with a line of some sort accross all of them, that way you can always put them back if its not doing what you want them to.Also it would be best to do this with the tv on and running so that you can see the adjustments being made,my advice is do it with a stick or piece of plastic anything NON conductive. If the vertical adjustment is off that bad it would suggest to me that there is a circuit failure somewhere.

There certainly is a

There certainly is a component failure somewhere, I tried the adjustments you suggested and there was no change, I replaced the vertical output IC and still no change

evil
You should have verified that

You should have verified that you have voltage going to the ic before just replacing it,gets expensive that way, just curious was it ic501?

yes it was ic 501, I am

yes it was ic 501, I am getting 9 volts on the vertical yoke, there is supposed to be a +15 volts and a -15 volts from the flyback but I am only getting the +15 volts at the designated test points
