We bought a 54" Hitachi projection tv 1 1/2 years ago. Everything was fine until this morning. I was watching TV when the power went off to the TV. The power did not go off anywhere else. When I try to turn on the TV, I only hear a "click". The manual actually addresses this problem by indicating the power plug should be unpluged for a few minutes and then plugged back it. The solution did not help. Hours later, the tv still just clicks. Thandk
sounds like a problem in the sweep power supply. its really hard to say what caused it but im betting a bad regulator IC or a problem in the scan supply like a bad capacitor. It is common that after a few years that the power supply filter capacitors dry up, but after a year and a half? I would say a power surge took out the regulator IC or an associated part. This is not a type of repair any one should attempt to try and fix themselfs on a TV set if they have no formal TV training. Theres to much High voltage inside these sets to be playing around or tinkering inside of them. Please seek out a proffesional to assist you with this repair. Good luck and Pease let us know what the tech did to fix your set or you had to do to get your set working again.
Thanks for the info. I will call a pro to come and fix it.
