mitsubishi ws 55613 will not power ON

Mitsubishi WS-55613 TV ----When we press the power button, the green light will come on for a second but then we hear a CLICK on it shuts off right away.

Any ideas on what could be wrong-----the green light had been blinking prior to this but would eventually turn the Tv on.

Hearing a lot about capacitors needing replaced???????? I do not know where they are or how to replace them.PLEASE advise

THANKS!!

I would run a diagnostic test

I would run a diagnostic test first. Go to the front pushbuttons for this. Hold the menu and input buttons in for about 5 seconds and release. You will probably see a blinking red led. Count the blinks for the first and second digit of a repeating pattern.

Now, if you see a 2 and 2 pattern, more than likely your convergence IC's need replacing. Then do some searching on this site for more advice.

Cannot run a diagnostic----as

Cannot run a diagnostic----as soon as we hit the power button the TV clicks off.

Should we call in a technician or should we just shop for a new TV

This set is only 6 years old!!!

Okay, the set is shutting

Okay, the set is shutting down with a click. Go ahead and run the diagnostic at that point, just as I described above. If you get the 2-2 blink code, you can expect to pay for a convergence repair, which should not be overly expensive. If you do not see any led blinks, I'm not sure what to adivse.

When I did this I got a 2-3

When I did this I got a 2-3 blink code.
What does this mean??

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice!!

2-3 is the code for loss of

2-3 is the code for loss of horizontal deflection, I believe. Not so simple to diagnose. You need an expert to look at it to decide what exact circuit is causing the shutdown.

Is this worth fixing? If so,

Is this worth fixing? If so, who would you recommend to fix and how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks again for your help.
