Networking using LAN

I have setup  Microsoft Clent on two PCs which use Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network cards. The 1st PC is MS XP Home version and the 2nd is  MS XP Media Pro. The 1st PC sees and opens the 2nd PC over the network but the 2nd PC does not see itself or the the 1st PC on the network. The Router is a Linksys E1000 wireless router. The networks are setup as

Microsoft Client Networks,

File and Printer sharing,

Microsoft TCP/IP Version 6

Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

I have attempted installation of the newest driver from Intel and it does not change anything.

Anyone have any ideas,   Chuck

Here's a few thoughts:

1. Make sure both PCs are running the same Workgroup name, otherwise the name won't populate in My Network Places without backing up a few levels and navigating to the other workgroup.

2. Go through the Network Setup Wizard on each PC. Control Panel --> Network Setup Wizard. Make sure file and print sharing are on, and the wizard should also configure the Windows firewall to allow it.

Thank you Matt!  Both PCs are on WORKGROUP, Printer and file sharing is enabled on both, I have set netbios to default (enabled). I now can see PC2 but still cannot see PC on 1st. I found I had to disable simple file sharing on the XP Pro PC.
