JVC GR-d70US driver problem

I finally got around to trying to take movies from my DV camcorder and burn them onto DVD's on the PC.  This has been an interesting experience.

I think I have a couple of issues.  First, I am trying to hook up via a USB cable, after some reading, I now realize I will need to use the IEEE 1394 cable.  Fortunately, I have the drive on my PC, but need to buy a cable tomorrow.  No problem.

My second issue is the PC does not seem to recognize the camcorder in any event.  I tried to install the driver from the CD that came with the camera, and when I click on the driver, I eventually get to a message that says "Windows 98 only" and it will not let me go on, just click on the message and it closes, no way to bypass.  I cannot find a driver on the web either.  This is a stupid question, but I do have to have the driver for the computer to see the device, right?  Any suggestions on where to find said driver?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What video editing program

What video editing program are you using to edit your movies?  Is that what isn't recognizing your camera?

Ron,

Ron,

Thanks for the assist.  I got the IEEE 94 cable, and when I connect that way, the PC sees the camcorder.  So, now my issue is Adobe Premier Elements 2.0 gives me a "date/time recorded not found" message when I try to capture video.

Going to try windows program right now.  I believe JVC did not set this camera up to send date/time with this model of a firewire.  ugh.

Thanks for any help.

I believe I solved my own

I believe I solved my own problem.  Because this JVC model does not send date/time info the way the software needs it, you cannot use certain features in Adobe Premier Elements, at least not easily.  Windows program, or Roxio both work fine.

Thanks for the help.
