Mitsubishi WS-65513 Brightness Problem

I just got thru reviewing the DM Capacitor Repair guide hoping it might shed some light on my brightness issue. But there was no mention, I pulled the DM and mine shows no signs of bad caps and my TV starts normally, no blinking light problems. However, the TV seems to have a mind of its own regarding brightness. It seems to fluctuate levels of brightness all on its own, going from a normal picture to gradual fades to fast fades. I never loose the picture to complete darkness, just to very low brightness levels. It was very inconsistant, it would run normally for months and then acted up for awhile and then run normally. Just recently, it decided not to go back to running normally and now is constantly displaying a dark picture. Funny thing is the tv's menus appear normally. I've had it new since 2003 and until recently, it's been the best TV I've ever owned.  Can someone point me in the right direction to correcting this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help, Jay, CT-USA

Thanks Alnp. I have the

Thanks Alnp. I have the service manual but not being an electrical engineer, schematics don't mean much to me. I did clean the terminals. I use the DVI port for HD and comp1 for bluray, both act the same. All daughter boards seem locked in and no obvious loose connections. The tubes don't leak. I'm not sure what a bad soldier joint looks like so I'm not able to determine that. I will have to see if I can understand the traing manual. I can't test the regulator. Are the visual sings I should look for? Thanks for responding.
