Itronics 20gb jukebox

ANYONE ANY IDEA HOW TO GET THIS DAMN PIECE OF JUNK TO WORK.?

BOUGHT IT AT ARGOS ( BIG MISTAKE ), I USE WINDOW HOME XP SP2.  I PLUG THE USB LEAD IN, AND NOTHING.  WINDOWS IS SUPPOSED TO RECOGNIZE NEW HARDWARE, BUT NOT THIS.  TRIED INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE FROM THE CD-ROM PROVIDED, BUT STILL NOTHING.  CAN GET THE PROGRAMME, JUKEBOX, ON THE PC SCREEN, BUT WHEN I CONNECT THE JUKEBOX, I ALWAYS GET THE MESSAGE, JUKEBOX NOT CONNECTED.

INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED ARE PATHETIC AND COMPLETELY USELESS.

RANG ARGOS CUSTOMER SERVICES FOR ADVISE, AND WAS TOLD TO RING THEIR TECHNICAL DEPT.  WASTE OF TIME.  THEY DONT DEAL WITH THE ITEM IN QUESTION AND WAS TOLD TO RING BACK CUSTOMER SERVICES.

DID THAT.  THEY TOLD ME TO RING ITRONICS AND GAVE ME THE NUMBER.  RANG THEM.  IT WASNT ITRONICS, BUT A PLACE CALLED CMS.  THEY COULDNT HELP ME WITH IT BEING A 20GB MP3 PLAYER.

CANT FIND A PHONE NUMBER OR WEB ADDRESS FOR ITRONICS.

NO HELP NUMBERS OR ADDRESSES IN THE MANUAL PROVIDED.

I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE LOOKING TO PURCHASE THIS ITEM TO AVOID IT.

STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO WORK IT AND GETTING NOWHERE FAST.

IVE INSTALLED THE DISC AND UN-INSTALLED IT MANY TIMES.

ITS MEANT TO BE FOR PEOPLE USING WINDOWS 98.

THE MANUAL SAYS THAT YOU CAN INSTALL DIRECT FROM THE PLAYER, BUT DOES NOT TELL YOU HOW.

WHEN I CONNECT THE MP3 PLAYER TO THE PC, ON THE MP3 SCREEN, ALL I GET IS THE MESSAGE, READY.  THEN NOTHING, NOT A BLOODY THING.

ANY ADVISE YOU CAN GIVE ME ABOUT THIS JUNK WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Ok Ok Take a deep breath!! No

Ok Ok Take a deep breath!! No need to have a stroke. So I assume your using windows XP? Im not a windows expert but Does it say in the manual only for windows (* as I think you stated? Have you tryed using it without the proggy installed that came with it/ I had one older MP3 player I couldnt get to work so i let window media player see it all by itself and run it. seems to work well after I did that.. If your still haveing problems maybe our MP3 expert can assist you. I will forward this to him.

I RUN WINDOWS XP, BUT THE MP3

I RUN WINDOWS XP, BUT THE MP3 PLAYER IS SUPPOSED TO RUN ON DIFFERENT WINDOWS.  TRIED TO GET IT GOING WITHOUT THE CD-ROM, BUT NOTHING.  WINDOWS XP DOESNT SEEM TO RECOGNIZE THE PLAYER AT ALL. TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS FOR DAYS NOW, BUT STILL CANT GET IT TO WORK.  THE ACTUAL CD PROVIDED IS MEANT FOR WINDOWS 98.  IVE UN-INSTALLED EVERYTHING AND TRIED ALL SORTS OF THINGS, BUT JUST CANT GET THE PLAYER TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL

I have bought the same item,

I have bought the same item, the software is quite basic but to give you some direction; I have Windows XP, my media player finds the Jukebox and will syncronise all files in my library to it. I then run Syncronise with the "Jockey" software provided with the Jukebox. I then "Save" with the jockey software and the files are on then on my Jukebox. I would suggest that either the lead or the player is faulty if your media player can't find it. Is the external drive (Jukebox) visible when you go through "My Computer" if not then it may be the connection.

P.S All my albums are saved as wma files

These are my gripes:

1) If the album Title is quite long then the the player saves a twenty track album for e.g. as twenty different albums with one track on each (how crap is that)

2) It won't recognise some tags I have re tagged albums, using mp3 tag software, written them manually  but the albums appear as "Unknown" album and "Unknown" artist although the track title is ther and correct. The Tag info on media player is correct and so is the detail when you find the individual file.

3) As mentioned there is no help line available so any new upgrades of de bugged software is highly unlikely.

The player does work and the sound through alternative earphones is quite good so once the software bugs are ironed out it should be a resonable player at the price.

One thing I remembered on my

One thing I remembered on my Windows Media Player is the "set up sync" option (next to edit play list). Is the box "all Music" ticked so you can Syncronise music to your player? The media player does say it has syncronised to the player when successful.
P.S if there isn't a connection when you open Windows Media Player Sync
it does say "No device has been detected press F5 to Refresh" below the media player options .

Can anyone please help ...

Can anyone please help ...

The player won't recognise some tags. My tags appear to be all correct but some albums appear as "Unknown" artist in the library although the track title is listed and correct. The Tag information on windows media player is correct and so is the detail in the properties for each individual file.  Thanks in anticipation

I obtained the driver disk

I obtained the driver disk for the 20gb Itronics Duke box this weekend and installed it on a winxp pro system. It works perfectly. I had previously formatted the 20gb drive and lost the drivers. Theis software restores the drivers and allows the creation of play lists.

I purchased this mp3 player

I purchased this mp3 player for my dad for xmas because it had a lot of memory for all his songs and it was cheap, I knew itronics to be trustworthy because I already had another itronics mp3 player.

At first the computer doesn't recognise it, it kept comming up with 'device not connected'. It was irratating.  The trick is to connect the mp3 player to the computer via the USB port whilst having it plugged into the mains. The computer will recognise the device at once and hey presto! you can start transferring songs.
