i connected my vcr to my computer to record some home taped tapes and it worked fine. I then reconnected it to the tv and that's when I found out it won't switch to the required channel to record a program. I try switching to the channel and I get a snowy, noisy picture as tho I disconnected the RF cable from the VCR to TV. it's recording channel 3 ok but not the channel I want. can anyone advise what the problem may be??
What is the signal source to the VCR? Do you have cable or an outside antenna?
cable. the vcr is set to ch 3. it was working fine til i connected it to the computer and reconnected to the tv. don't know if i shud have hooked up to the computer but c'est la vie. waiting for a reponse from the tv card people. i've yet to have a look inside the vcr and check for burned or otherwise connections. I think it cud be either the tuner or the video amp in the vcr that's on the blink. it's a Sears Model 509-30609 made by JVC for Sears Canada but can't find the equivalent model from JVC. it's about 8 years old.
Ok Wait now On your first Question you stated that the channel 3 was working correctly ?? You have video and sound on channel 3 off of the cable box??If you didnt have the vCR would you have to put channel 3 on the TV? If yes then you have to change the channels on the cable box to what ever you want to record.
no cable box, got rid of that a couple of months ago and no problem with it then either. cable company got rid of the analog boxes and going totally digital. so i'm still on analog cable. I thot i was taping one thing on a channel the other nite and at the end i changed the channel on the tube back to channel 3 to watch what i thot i recorded and what showed up was the show on channel 3. so i've been pressing buttons and going thru the whole nine yards on this and getting zilch other than 3. it records there and no where else.
