JVC 28" interiart E/W problem

My 28"  jvc tv shutdown reacently and just tripped on switch on.The lopt transistor was dead short which i replaced checked for dry joints, switched on and to my horror an e/w fault and a narrowish picture appeard.Lopt transistor remained fairly cool and after 10 mins or so it went back to tripping with dead short lopt transistor.I could not find any other dead shorts or open circuits.Any advise would be appreciated.thanks

Im sorry Never heard of the LOPT transistor?? And E?W fault ? Maybe we call it differant here??

hi reference the jvc,it is

hi reference the jvc,it is the (lopt)line output transistor and the east/west fault is a concaved picture, the sides bowing inwards

i hope you can help

thanks

I think you mean HOT.. Thats

I think you mean HOT.. Thats the horizontal output transistor over by the Flyback or are you talking about the SMPS driver transistor. Seriously never heard anything called a line output transistor unless your talking about a switching type transistor that turns on an off an output.?  If its the horizontal output transistor, check first the regulated b+ voltage on the collector of the transistor and the regulated voltage at the regulator output.  The concave problemcould be causeing the HOT to blow out as that is a pincussion problem thats part of the tuning circuit fot the horizontal sweep circuit and will over drive that circuit. Theres a few transistors as well as coils that go bad in these sets all the time. If you have a schematic please scan and PDF to me as I would be glad to assist you in this repair.

This is my first post.  I

This is my first post.  I have a 1990 JVC Mdl #AV-2650S.  I believe the horizontal output has gone out on this unit.  I live in Ft. Duchesne, Utah, and there is only one repair place here that is not very good.  I would appreciate any help I can receive here through this forum.  This is a 26" TV.  There is just a straight line across the screen.  Audio is fine.

Thank you so much!

No, if its a line across the

No, if its a line across the screen then the problem is in the vertical output section.  It should be an inline package standing up on a heat sink.  Or it could be a combination of problems like the Vertical output IC along with the sweep power supply that feeds the B+ to the output IC.  If you know how to work on solid state electronics, you should get a schematic of the sets circuits, and find the output IC and measure the voltages there first.  If you have no electronic experience, you should call in a professional to assist you in this repair.  Good Luck and please let us know how you made out.
