Hi, I have a LG 42PG6000 and the remote just stoped wroking!
I have tried disconnecting the tv from the mains and battery fix no luck.
Have tried power button and 1 or 2 not luck.
Been to shop checked out remote it is sending signal, must be something in tv. Maybe kids have pressed something on remote to disable it ??
Have reset factory settings on tv no luck ..
Is there anything else to try before biting the bullet and shipping off tv to repair shop!!
Hi, I've had a problem with my 42LG30 for quite some time thats just like this. I accidentally plugged my pc audio cable into the "remote control in" port, now the remote doesn't work at all. I've been trying to find a fix for months, no luck, LG customer service has been no help at all. I assume by plugging something into the "remote control in" port, i triggered the tv to only accept remote input from that port. If anyone could help, well, it would make me so happy to not have to stand up everytime i need to change the volume or inputs. please!
Also yes, i've tried everything basic such as unplugging, checking if remote sends signal, etc.
edit: do you think it would be possible to hook an IR reciever/repeater/emitter (i dont know the difference, the internet has failed me) to the remote control port and have it recieve my remote signal from there? Thanks
I have the LG 60" Plasma TV. I use a Harmony remote to operate everything. It has worked flawlessly for yeas. I quit working the other day to turn the TV on and off. Everything else works. The LG remote does not work either. Batteries are good. any thoughts? If the IR sensor is bad is ther a way to use the "Remote Contro In" jack to bypass the front panel IR sensor. I operate everything using a SmartPath IRC-3.0
I unplugged the TV and let it set for an hour or so. I then turned it back on it it was working fine. My tech guy came over before I did the previous and ccouldn't get it to work. He asked I we had changed any of the new style light bulbs or connected any new appliances. Didn't know that could effect the TV. anyway, it semsto be working fine for the last few days.
I got a LG 32LC2D LCD TV that the remote and side buttons stop functioning. Any idea what it could be. I check the remote using the camera to see the (IR) working or not and indeed, it does. Anyone could help I would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem with an LG 61 inch plasma. I removed the batteries fron the remote, unplugged all the porer from the Tv and massaged all of the buttond on the remote. one of them must have been stuck. After 30 minutes I put the batteries back in the remote, plugged the tv back in and everythig worked fine, It;s been three weeks and all is still well.
Hey i have this 21 inch panasonic tv..... I hadnt used it for a month or so and when i wanted to use it... The tv ons but the remote is not working... also only the manual power button on the tv works... other buttons such as the volume and the AV buttons are not working that are found on the tv set....
For anyone else reading this: I saw this post elsewhere and it was spot on: If your LG remote quits working, but you know the remote is working properly (as in my case 3 different remotes quit working at the same time)...the post I read explained that corrosion, etc, sometimes closes the external "remote control" port located on the back of the tv. When an external remote is plugged into this port, it turns off the remote sensor on the front of the tv. Even though you don't have anything plugged into this port on the back of the tv, corrosion, etc, closes the connection which turns off the remote sensor on the front of the tv. The post said to lightly spray WD40 in the port and plug and unplug a 3.5 mm plug in and out of the port (in my case, I tried without the WD 40 initially just to see if it would work dry). Worked like a dream. after plugging and unplugging the 3.5mm plug into this port several times, remotes started working again.
Took a whole 2 minutes once I located the port on the back of the TV. I really wish I could give credit to the writer of the original post I saw, but I am now unable to locate it.
If this helps one person like it helped me..then worth reposting is worth it!!!
John post solved my problem. I turn off the tv and back on everything worked perfect. I blame the problem to Florida thunderstorms. They can wreck havoc on the electronics.

I bought LG TV 42" two weeks ago. 2 days ago "This function is not available now" appeared when I attempted change channels using the LGremote.
Is there a simple fix or will I take it all back?
unplug the set for a short problem, plug it back into the wall outlet then after you turn it on redo the auto chalnnel setup in the set-up menu
Larry
My son came home, fixed the problem in 3 seconds. I had the TV on the wrong setting. I still don't understand it but it works fine.
Well that is certainly great news!!!!!
Larry
can you ask him what the fault was, how did he correct your issue??
The aerial is not going to the TV but to an external device. Remote was set to TV remote and therefore trying to change channels was impossible.
He went to 'component' input, set the remote to the appropriate external device and problem fixed.
oh so it was u7ser error??!!! LOL

Thanks so much for your answer, Ron Ross, I just switched my remote back to the external device and everything worked properly!!
