Sony KP53-hs10 problems

Hey all,

 I have the kp53-hs10 and am having some problems with it.

Symtoms that I've noticed.

1) The standby/timer blinks 5 times-pauses-then repeats.  It will do this for as long as I have the power on.

2) The picture comes on after about 30-60 seconds of pushing the power button.  It stays on for a second then off for a second.  This is continuous for as long as the set is on.

3) The sound is normal.

4) There is a double picture as well.  Not sure if that is the right term so here is what it is.  If there is text on the screen such as a telephone number, then it puts a shadowy type number next to it.  So instead of it being 555-5555 it is 555555--55555555.  Hopefully that makes sense.

I have not done anything other than unplugging the set for a few minutes and then overnight to see if it would somehow clear.  

I have searched the forums for the 5 blink code and solutions but none that I saw also had the screen blinking on and off.   The manual offers up some IC chips and transistors ans possible suspect components.  I also have experience soldering and a background with electronics however, limited experience with televisions.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
