I had this tv givin to me with all 3 colors misaligned so I think well thats ok should just be some new convergence chips and no big deal. So I get the new chips stk392 150 to replace the stk392 110's that are in it. The repair shop said that it shouldnt make a difference just updated chips. I put those on pop the board back in and red is fixed but blue and green are still off. So I check the resistors and find 2 are bad order those and they came in today solder them into place and had a wonderful picture for about 10 minutes. Then I heard a click sound like the set powering on again and the screen goes black. I take off the back after unpluging it to find that the 2 resistors I just bought are burnt along with a new resistor right next to one i just replace. I unpluged the set to reset the protection and i watched it finish off burning the resistor that hadnt burnt before and the set powered back on. So now all the colors are bleeding out again and 3 resistors are burnt to a crisp. The red led on the deflection pwb is staying on which is a protection led. I do have the service manual if that would help anyone come closer to an answer just need to know what steps I should take next. Obviously something is delivering 2 much power to that convergies board and I dont know if now the chips i purchased are done 2 or not.
The chips were correct. Both of the chips you mentioned are 38V 3A 3 degree convergence correction circuits with the same pinout (http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/sanyo/ds_pdf_e/STK392-110.pdf)
Sounds like you fixed the problem. Perhaps the resisters you installed were of too low a wattage. Try installing higher wattage resisters.
hey david thanks for the response I fixed it yesterday. One of the new chips I installed had a short in it so I got another set at the same place with some new resistors installed and has been working great every since. The first time I did it I didn't check the resistors and I had 2 burnt out on the IK05 which is the same side that burnt all the resistors up so when I put power to it that shorted the new chip. So when I fixed the resistors the shorted chip burnt them up. All is well now though thanks for your reply have a happy new year.
