I have a 27F520T RCA tv. I am trying to connect a dvd player to my
tv. I only get sound, no picture. I tried using the white&red audio
cables with an S-video cable and then with the yellow video cable, but
I get the same problem. Can anyone help?

have you put your tv on video channel ?
Hi, yes, I put my tv on 'S-video' input channel.
If yout TV is switched to s-video and you have sound but no picture then the s- video connector on the back of the tv or player is bad, or the cable is bad ,or the video switcher inside the tv is bad. Try looking at the ends of the s- video cable and make sure none of the pins are bent or broken. If thats good try the regular rca type video cables . If they work then you know its one of the problems I described. If it still dosent work then its a problem with the video processor/output of the player. Good Luck
Hi, the cable is brand new, and I also tried two different brand new
cables. Still the same problem! I also tried the regular rca
cables....same problem again!
thanks
Like I said if you have No picture with the rca cables then you have a problem with the Player. Try it on another video input on another set, just to be sure. Its probably something you wont be able to fix or service, as this unit has no user serviceable parts inside . So if it does not work with another tv set then time to see the service person or depending on how old this unit is, buying a new one. Good Luck Techman
Another few thoughts.
- Many DVD players do not output Composite/S-Video and component signals simultaneously, and therefore have a small switch on the back of the unit to dictate which output the player will use.
- Does your player disable the 480i outputs when progressive scanning is enabled? Not sure I've seen a player that behaves this way, but it's worth a look.
- Check your wiring. Some televisions have video outputs in conjunction with inputs. You need to make sure your player is connented to an input on the TV. Also, since most TVs have more than one input, make sure that you've selected the correct one.
-If you have a DVD recorder, it will also have inputs and outputs. Make sure your cables are connected to outputs on the DVD player.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll try looking for a switch on the player tonight.
I
tried connecting to the 2 different video input connections on my tv,
but they both produce the same result. It's not a dvd recorder, just a
basic player.
I'll try your suggestion about a switch and will let you know if I have any luck!
Assuming your tv is working ok when connected to a box or antenna it sounds like a problem with your player. One trick you might try is to connect the video output of the player to the video input of a vcr. Next connect a round cable to the coax connector "out" on the vcr to the "in" coax connector on the tv. Then select channel 3 or 4 on the tv, do you get a picture now?
Hi Phoenix,
Did you ever find out what was wrong with your RCA tv? I have the same exact model and problem that you have. It's a brand new set and I am getting really frustrated in trying to figure it out. Watching normal cable channels, it's beautiful! But no video when the DVD player is hooked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...
I have the same problem. Could it be the RCA tv? PLEASE keep those suggestions coming. It's driving me crazy!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
