Samsung Camcorder Class Action Lawsuit

If you have a Samsung camcorder with a CCD imager problem (meaning that the camcorder records sound but not video) go to www.samsungclassaction.com for more information about the class action lawsuit that is now pending against Samsung for this known problem.

I just called samsung about this problem. My camcorder serial number is one month out of the range of numbers covered by this recall. It is doing exactly what everyone describes and they tell me that they won't cover it and that I will have to pay for the repairs. I am going to the Attourney General's office of Delaware to get them to help me with this matter. I have even spoken to the customer complaint, executive branch, and they give me the same sentence over and over...

Looks like I'm just stuck with this lemon...my advice to all of you...never buy Samsung again!

I had the same problem as

I had the same problem as Kathleen and Vinvestigater13, they refuse to fix my CCD problem under recall becuase my manufacturing date was supposedly April, 1 2004.

After speaking with Customer Reps in the Phillipines and multiple ECR (Executive Customer Responses), I finally came accross a ECR, after a long discussion, that stated that my scd107 would be covered by Samsung in the event it were a faulty CCD and in the event it was not, I would pay for repairs. I agreed and she sent me a ups print out sheet to mail my camcorder in. After 3 years of following this class action suit, I was finally happy to get this damn camocorder fixed (used approximately 15 hours).

About 2 days ago (8/11/2009), I received a call from the tech service guy (Dan w/ badge no. 166) and he told me he would not be able to conduct any repairs without payment first. I told him why I sent my camcorder in and the agreement I made with ECR and he simply refused.

According to the notes, the ECR, who made agreement, noted that I was aware my product was not covered in the recall and that I agreed to pay for repairs in the event it wasn't a faulty CCD. Although this may insinuate that in the event it is a faulty CCD, Samsung would replace it- this wasn't note appropriately- and regardless of what the ECR told me personally, its my word against hers.

I also have been told by

I also have been told by Samsung that my camcorder (Model SCD23) is out of warranty. My son, the lawyer, has tried to look up the settlement but has been unable to find it. Also, I have tried to email the attorneys who originally filed the lawsuit but they have ignored me. Does anyone know how I can look at the terms of the settlement document. Thanks

I tried to call the Samsung

I tried to call the Samsung peoples many times for the problem, they said they will fix it within 15 days. I called them again after 15 days, but they started giving answers that the person who fixes it is not at place. Now its 1 year and i think i should replace it.

Samsung is not following the

Samsung is not following the settlement agreement of the class action law suit.

I spent over one months trying to get a repair or replacement for my SDD103. They sent me, without prior notification, a SMX-K40BN which is not even close to my camcorder. I have now spent two weeks trying to get a correct camera. They now tell me that they do not have a correct replacment and offered me $100. for my $400.00 camera.

I tried to contact their Legal Department but there is no response to my calls.

Samsung states in their settlement agreement: "Samsung has agreed to the settlement as part of its longstanding commitment to customer service and in the spirit of putting consumers first." and "As part of the settlement, Samsung has agreed to repair or replace the defective models at no cost to the consumer."

My camera was:
SC-D103/XAA 900x zoom mini dv, built in light, night vision, memory stick

and they replaced it with:
SMX-K40BN/XAA 65x zoom, not mini dv, no light, no night vision, uses SD memory

The camera is not a replacement of my camera in either operation, utility or compatibility.

I am not through with this yet. I have left a message for Mr. Chang-Soo Choi President of Samsung America at 1-201-229-4000 and left a message with Mr. Stuart Sandweiss, Sandweiss Law Center, P.C. who settled the lawsuit. His number is: 1-248-559-2400.

Maybe it is time to find another attorney that will begin a Class Action Law Suit against Samsung for bad faith in their method of handling their previous Class action law suit.

Where did you find the
Where did you find the information about the settlement? I've looked all over the internet and can't find any info on it. I purchased my sd103 back in 2004 BUT used it only about 10 times over the years. When I pulled it out of the closet a few months ago to use it I got the blue screen. Although I missed the class action suit I'd like to know if I can have it replaced since it was a faulty part. How did you get yours replaced?
