I have a LG VHS recorder Model EC290W. It was set to automatically record at a certain time but the tape ran out before it finished. This has led to the Automatic Timer setting staying on and not only for that day, but somehow it says "daily". I have tried deleting but it won't let me, I have unplugged it, still the setting is there. Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end. Cess.
Hi Cess,
LG does not have a manual available for reference from their global support site. The closest I could find was the 470W, but even that wasn't available for download.
Most VCRs are similar on how they deal with timer recordings.
Power on the VCR and bring up the main menu. Look for something like "timer recordings or scheduled recordings" in the menu, which hopefully will bring up a list of current scheduled recordings. You should be able to remove it from this list.
If you need additional help, can you list out the menu options from the main menu, and we'll see if we can figure it out step by step.
Hi Matt, Thanks so much for trying to help me with this ridiculous situation. When I bring up the menu, it only allows me to open REC with a clock above it. The list comes up with the daily programmed setting sitting there up the top. It says to delete I should push <. I push it but it doesn't budge. It will allow me to add more jobs to the list, it just won't allow me to get rid of the one that's there. I can't get into any other other menu options because it keeps letting me know that I've set it for automatic recording there's a clock on the screen and the only option I've got is 'OK' or ' i '. It's complicated I know, but I need to outsmart it in some way. I can't find my manual, but I doubt if it would have dealt with this problem anyway. Bye for now, Cess.
i'm having almost the same problem. it's stuck on timer and when i push anything, it goes to lock and back to timer. please help me.
Poor you and bad luck, terileona.
That's exactly what mine's doing.
I'm getting to the stage where I'll be throwing out an otherwise good, piece of machinery and replacing it.

I can help you with this one it is quite easy once you do it, but tricky to remember. you have to select it first when it says > it means you need to select to delete. havent used mine in 12months, and have lost my manual. so if you can tell me how i can set it up and tune it to my tv, so my tv recognises it agian, i can give you a walk in the delelete park, as soon as i can see my damn menu! lol.
havent tuned or set it up in 4 years, so i remeber how to do all the tricky functions, but do you think i remeber the easy bit of setup? na. lol.
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE EC290W OFF SAFE MODE
