I have been having major problems with the above mentioned tv. it started out going black and white. Repair man replaced board. then a week later the board started smoking so they replaced same board again. Then it went black and white again. so they took it in the shop fo over a month and replaced the same board again. and now it's going black and white again? What can be the problem? i hear nothing but bad stuff on this tv. does this tv suck?
Well i would not think it sucked the first few years you had the set, right? is this an authorized RCA repair depot? First mistake if it is not. A TV does not have to be repaired by an authorized repair depot but since they get service bullitens and schematics on the TV sets, I would not use any one who was not authorized. Maybe it is because when i had my shop i was authorized for just about every company there that ever opened there doors. Your problem could be the board was bad but the shop most likely did not did not follow up with voltage checks on the board after they replaced it, so the same problem occoured. this happens alot on some sets. i have seen it a 1000 times.If they cannot fix it by a reasonable date you set, insist they bring it back, refund your money and let a real tech look at it. Turn on and off and stays off.
that is a hard one to guess man without any other information.
power light turns on and off. sometimes the tv comes on, sometimes it doesn't. what could the problem be. RCA D52W14
It is not a solution to your problem. If you are tired of just looking at your giant TV's black screen you can remove the screws in the lower panel on the back. There will be a grey piece with a thick red wire coming out of the top on the left side(if you are looking from the back of the TV). Go get the hair dryer! Hold the hair dryer on that area for 10-15 minutes. The television should come back on and stay on until you turn it off, but when you turn it off you will have to get the hair dryer out again. I used one of the inputs at night instead of turning it off. I did that for several months until I got a new one.
