Hi; I'd just like to say, this is the best tech site I've ever seen!!!!! I had a problem with the convergence on my 4 year, almost to the day Sony KP-65WV600. So I did some searching on the internet and came up with your site. Where I read as much about this type problem as I could find. And I ended up contacting Ryan E. who had a thread about the same problem. So I ended up buying 2 STK392-560 IC's from MCM (aprox. $37 with VERY FAST shipping) and installed them last friday. I just disconected the D board But not the High power lines from the Transfomer and flipped it over and supported it with 2 bath towels and solder wicked the solder points While being grounded and avoided touching anywhere I did'nt have to and made sure not to desolder the very small surface mount Resistors right next to the IC points. Then when I was done I looked at my work under a magnifying glass to make sure there were no small solder bridges and cold solder joints. Also I put lots of heat sink compound on the back of the IC's like Larry Dillon suggested. Now the picture looks great again so I also cleaned the lenses. Thanks VERY much to Larry and Ryan E. !!!! And I have told lots of people about your site.
P.S. When my problem occured I did Not mess with the manual convergence in the menu. And I think that helped make it easier to fix, Cause I did'nt have to go back and try to re-adjust what I might have messed up. Also click on my Picture and you'll see what my problem looked like.
Hello, I seem to be having a similar issue and want to find out how were you able to seperate the D board from the B board ? Thanks
