After a power failure today, my ws-55859 has the familiar green blinking light. How can I determine what is at fault here? Sounds like capacitors or a "ds" board from what I've read. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

yes replace the (7) 1000uf 16V radial capacitors on the DM board
Can you tell me how and where to identify the DM board?
If you look in the back of the set. The DM board is encased inside the metal stand up case. Open the case and you will see the DM board there are seven identical capacitors on that board replace them
Sweet, time to break out the soldering iron. Thanks, I appreciate the help!
Youre welcome let me know how you make out or if you need additional info.
I opened up the back, but I dont' see a board in a metal case that has 7 of those capacitors. I see a board in a metal case that has two groups of seven caps, but they are smaller. The only 1000uf 16v caps I see are on the main board coming in with the ac cable attached to it, but not seven of them. Am I overlooking it somewhere? How big is this board and where is it located? Thanks a million. Jeff
Send me a email to [email protected] and I will send you the instructions for the repair. Your model is the WS55859 Correct?
The metal case is the HDTV tuner box. It's stands to the left of the input panel and has a coax input at the bottom. Unscrew the plastic cover to access it. Remove the 4 screws of the arched side cover where the wires come out - remove arched cover. Start sliding box out, disconnect a couple of the wire holders as the wires pull tight and unplug the back 2 pins for additional clearance. Slide the tuner box out of the plastic holder while turning it right. You will just be able to wiggle it out without removing anything else. It will still have the wires connected to it.
Once out, remove all the screws around the sides of the cover. Pull the cover off and you will see the small daughter board - the 7 caps are plainly visible . Unscrew 4 screws, pull 3 pin connectors and it's free. Now just de and re solder. Reverse assembly. Done!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you retest your TV, make sure the plastic face cover is slid in and screwed on the tuner case. If you look at the right edge near bottom, there is a copper lining - that's the ground for the box.
Here is a PDF with pics that will help: http://www.jeremyburns.com/Mitsubishi-Green-Blinking-Light-Fix.pdf
You will note that he removes the shelf and plastic holder to get the tuner box out (this ISN'T NECESSARY if you just pull 2 of the back pin connectors and release the wires from the ties!)
Also, it's very easy to take the DM power (daughter) board out so you can de and resolder it on a worktop surface.
Good luck!
I have installed seven new caps on my DM board and the tv came back on. Unfortunately, it only stays on for about two minutes and powers off. Reset light flashes, goes off and I can power up again. I have checked the fuses on the board and they are good. Any other ideas?? Thanks to "slinteriors" for all of the help getting this far!!! Just not ready to buy a new set yet!!
