Ok, please bare with me as I try to explain this.
I acquired a Toshiba 43HX71 43" Rear Projection TV.
Problem: Plug set in and I hear a double click. Look at front of set and there is a steady red blinking light. I push the power button and the red light stays on for a few seconds and than starts to steadily blink again
I've taken the back off and inspected the pc board of any obviouos signs of burn't resistors, capacitors and etc. I've also looked at the main heat sinks and the chips or mosfets(can't remember exactly what they are). Nothing seems obvious. I checked the fuse and its good. I even got the assembly out enough to where I could tilt it 90 degrees to see the other side of the boards. I just can't seem to find anything.
So, I'm down to getting a multi-meter and testing every part possible. I know its hard to diagnose a problem over the net, but, would appreciate if anyone has an idea of what to start with. I'm leaning more towards the power supply.
Thanks for your time,
James
Ok, so I've narrowed it down to the circuit board with the audio components on it. Just have to figure out what exactly is causing it now. The board has 4-5 different smaller boards on it. No other fuses that I can see. I'll keep you all updated on this.
I've found three to four leads starting to tear peel up on one of the covergence IC's. I took the covergence IC's out to replace them as they are a very common problem in these sets and to keep myself from having to do this again.
Could someone share with me whether I should just solder in some short leads or is there a way to fix the leads on the board?
I have a Toshiba 43HX71 for 8 years.
No power on only with a red blinking LED light.
Not always the STK392-110 convergent IC problem.
Open the lower-back cover, goto the far-left corner.
On the big-floor PCB, try to locate the black SOC Fuses.
Total 4 (5Ax2, 2A, 1.25A) around a group of purple Capacitors.
These bad FUSES are all with infinite (1) resistance unit.
Should be easily picked up with a Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter.
Replaced and done. Good Luck to all.
