There is a white horizontal line going across the screen dividing the screen in half. Above the line the screen is totally black and below the line the picture is normal.
i was also having the same kind of trouble with my samsung e800 my partner fixed it by taking the phone apart and replacing the strip which makes the screen work e.g all the colour etc, sometimes they just come loose or a lil worn and the screen goes weird mine had no colour just went white. hope this helps. i've found samsungs are delicate one drop and their history lol

This is a vertical problem...you need to replace some parts in the vertical output stage.
