Well, I was able to answer my

Well, I was able to answer my own question from February 21 above.

I found two bad resistors (R8C21 and R8C22) on the convergence circuit. I replaced them and can now align the blue vertical. Beautiful picture.

With that final tweek, I can now claim to be one of the many who have successfully repaired their own Mitsubishi thanks to this forum.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me over the past three months. Larry Dillon, you are a saint. You have kept this thread (and others) going for a long time. Even while you battle your own medical issues. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sonny, thanks for the multiple emails and encouragement to keep after it. Speed, Slinteriors and everyone who has contributed posts about their Mitsubishi problems. I read and I learned. Thanks.

If I can help someone else, let me know.

Looks like another WS-65819

Looks like another WS-65819 bites the dust. The TV turned itself off after switching from cable to tuner inputs. Now the power light comes on for a couple of seconds and then the TV turns itself off.

Any chance that this is the same problem? If so, any chance of getting the info the other folks have requested?

crosstime gmail...

Also, is there any way to get a diagnostic code out of this beastie? The picture is wonderful and it has been a great TV so far. I just can't afford the $500 - $1000 service call I expect this will cost me.

Update:  I tried the common lore found here and elsewhere with no luck.  After a service call I was told there were two ICs related to convergence that had burned out (and a couple of fused, etc).  About $150 in parts and over $400 in labor and service call charges.

I'm just hoping the TV will last once it gets repaired...

Larry Dillon said: If you are handy, and can solder, you may be able to save about 700 bucks if not more. There is a very common problem with these Mitsubishi TV sets. There is a digital board inside these puppies called the DM board. A lot of times there are four capacitors that go bad inside of these TV sets. Sometimes, depending on how bad the capacitors are, and if the capacitors did not blow out anything else on the Dm board, you can simply replace these four capacitors and this will fix your TV set. The average that this works on is about 65 to 70 % of the sets can be repaired with this fix. The others are power supply issues or the DM board has other issues. If you would like to attempt to repair your TV set, I will send you the instructions on how to do so. If you do not know how to solder well, do not attempt to replace the capacitors yourself. Pay a pro to do this for you. After all you are already saving a bundle of cash. Leave an e-mail address, and I will forward you the fix with and without the light engine. And if the capacitors inside the board are not swollen on the tops, as the direction shows you what they look like, the capacitors are most likely not your problem.

Hello Larry,

I have the Mitsubishi WS48513 Projection TV with the green blinking light of death.  Few previous times, I unplugged it and it will come back to normal.  This time we lost power and it keeps blinking.  Sorry I didn't include the model of the TV in my previous post to you.  Can you please suggest how to fix this problem? I can be emailed at [email protected]

Really appreciate your help! THanks in a million.

My set started making a different click when powered on for a couple of days. The it wouldn't power up at all. I checked for blown fuses on the main PCB but all look good. When plugged in you can see a red LED lit in the area of the power supply circuitry.

I can't afford to pay $400-$450 to have it repaired bvut do have a soldering iron and solder sucker.

Anyone got an idea for me?

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55909. Last night it shut itself off. It will not power back on. I have tried system reset and unplugging it with no avail. When the power button is pressed, the green light turns on and it clicks then about 2 second later clicks again and the green light turns off. It sounds like the DM cap problem that you have talked about. If so can you send directions on how to fix it? Thank you very much. [email protected]

My brother wants to trash it, but I told him I did alittle research and I think we can fix it. I think I have the dreaded convergence problem. Bowtie...colors... all out of sorts. Can you please email me any help you can give me. I really do not want to spend for a repair man to come. I have a friend who has dealt with soldering and tvs. Please can you email me what to get, where to buy, and how to do. I really would appreciate it.

Thank you,
