car amp

I have a Fosgate amp. I can't remember all the details. I have power on it from both the battery and the radio. All of my wires are hooked up like they always have been but the LED on the amp is not on. The amp does not work and all the wires have power. Any help would be greatly appreciated because my dad has no idea.

Did you check the fuse on the amp to make sure it didnt blow? Is there a Capacitor or anything else inline between the amp and the power source or is it straight to it? Check the remote wire on the amp make sure its not loose and both sides of the ground wire. If everything still looks nice and secure try moving the ground wire to a different location on the car see if you can get it to come on. There are a few things you could try but if none of it helps the amp might be blown dont know what the rating is on your amp or what you are pushing at what ohm level. So its kind of hard to say what happened did you make sure it wasnt clipping? was there a power surge? Make sure that you disconnect the speakers when you are trying to get the power back on see if that works.

Thanks I'll try the ground.

Thanks I'll try the ground. There is no fuse on the outside of the amp, I think it is inside somewhere. I have 2 or 3 more Fosgate amps, so I'm not too worried about it, but I would like to get this one fixed or something.

Did the ground fix anything?

Did the ground fix anything? Did you also unhook the speakers to try to get it to power back on?

What everybody told you to do

What everybody told you to do is correct. If you think the fuses are inside take the bottom panel off and look. Another thing that would help is to let us all know what model of Rockford Fosgate amp it is and how you have it hooked up in detail. Also take a volt meter and check to see if you are getting proper voltage to the amp when you have the car and radio on. Another thing is, did you do the install yourself and are you familar with hooking up audio amps. If it is a six channel how do you have it hooked up to your subs? Also there should be a protect light on the amp that would come on if there's a problem, but if fuses are blown some amps protect lights don't come on. As I said, if you have'nt had it fixed by now since it's been since Febuary, let us know all I have said. I repair car amps for a living. If you have'nt had it fixed and want it fixed I am the cheapest repair shop you will find anywhere. Send me a private message if interested.

Thanks for all the help. I

Thanks for all the help. I actually took it out of my car and took it apart. One part of the inside was burnt up. I had another one so I did not have to go buy one. My dad has already fixed the messed up one and has put it in his truck.

What part was burnt up? A transistor, most likely? When you go replacing any transistors you want to get the same date code and make sure they come from the same batch number. Mix matching transistos will cause you problems later down the road. There are different varriations in the transistors if they are'nt matched. Just a word of advice. They can short out again because of not being matched. Please let me know if everything turns out ok.

My dad fixed it. He has done

My dad fixed it. He has done it before, I never have. Thanks for the advice, but I wouldn't ever touch it. I was surely screw it up. I let my dad do it cause there is nothing I have ever seen that he cannot do on a car, new or old.
