If your not a tech, please stay safe and call in a pro to assist you with this repair. I found this from the RCA site on your model as it is made by RCA.GE 46GW945 CTC195 AUDIO 46GW945 serial 850241017 Unit has no audio. Tech needs to inspect the audio output circuit around the audio output IC. U11901. The items necessary to check is U11901(5 & 3) Pin 5 is the mute switch and it should be 26 volts and 3 is the B+ and should be 31. After closer inspection there was major evidence of rodent infestation. The circuit board was still wet from large amounts of urine and feces covering the area around the audio output. This is not covered by any warranty. The board has sever corrosion around this entire area. Board is not available from vendor. Refer customer to there home owners insurance to see if they will cover this unit as because it is a total loss.
GE 45GW945 CTC195 AUDIO 46GW945 Unit has a poor audio in the tuner mode. External audio from a VCR is perfectly normal. Checking audio at the Wide band output of U16201(6) was approx 300 millivolts. We also had the same at U11600(17). Following the Main audio to the output of U11600(12) finds no audio. Further checking finds capacitor C11630 a 4.7 mfd@ 35vdc was open.
GE 45GW945 CTC195 AUDIO 46GW945 Unit has a poor audio in the tuner mode. External audio from a VCR is perfectly normal. Suggested to the tech to connect the customers VCR in to the AUX input and try it there for a few days and see if the symptom shows up there. Also some history of failures have shown that 3 capacitors, if intermittently open will cause the same symptom. I Suggested to the tech to check into to possibility that a problem exists in the stereo decoder. The 3 coupling capacitors C11630, C11628, C11631 may need to be checked or replaced. Also U11600 the audio processor could be at fault. Actual problem was C11630 open 4.7 mfd @ 35 vdc

I am not sure how you could fix this problem. Try and take it to a repair shop because it may be less expensive. If that doesn't work may I suggest http://www.thebigscreenstore.com I order my home theater systems from them and I could not have been happier with the prices and their service.
