i have the magnavox 51mp392h/17 and i just replaced both ic's and the problems didn't get any better it just changed the location of the problem on the screen. instead of the colors being more seperated on the left side of the screen now it is right in the middle of the screen. and for some reason i cant figure out how to make manual convergence in service mode. i have the downloaded manual and it says to enter that mode to press 0-6-2-5-9-6-index on the remote but my remote does not have an index button. please help. the tv wont let me set my muti-point convergence on all points how do i reset everything so i can get my picture to look right?
did you check the resistors near the convergnce yoke plugs ? On this set they will open up.
what is a convergence yolk plug and what do you mean the resistors will open up?
I too would like to know what he is talking about. I have the same issue. Stone asked the questions and a while later said he got it to work. Are these resisters on the convergence board or located somewhere else? Where are they located. This is the same TV set. What are the yoke plugs?
I just replaced mr irc semiconductors, i found where everything was located by doing a google search for the tv manual\diagram and I downloaded the diagram in pdf format. the irc chips are about 2 1/2" long and 1 1/2" tall and they each have about 10 pins that you need to solder there are 2 chip on the convergence board. ps. i dont know what these yokes are that you are talking about are. and i didnt replace any resistors but resistor are generally cylindrical and very small. i hope some of this helps.
