Sounds like the High Voltage transformer. This is better known as the flyback transformer. This is pretty common for these sets to have the flyback to blow out on them. This is a critical part so if you know about the high voltage safty issues with a TV set, and know how to solder and unsolder on a printed circuit boar, then maybe you can find out if this is the problem by opening the back cover and turning on the set to see if that is where the High Voltage leak is. It could also be the high voltage spitter assembly. Please this is in the high voltage circuit, and these circuits have and hold alot of voltages in them even when they are unplugged. So i highly recommend that is you do not have a background in any type of TV repair, seek the assistance of a pro to help you along with this repair.
