sony kp-48s35 convergence issues

I'm new here but have been doing alot of reading on this cool site, hopefully you guys can help me.  I was recently given an old (1997) sony kp-48s35 tv.  The picture is convex at top and bottom.  I tried to adjust the convergence with the remote, but it will only move left to right, not up and down?   I have read the stk's are often the cause of this and to check the pico fuses as this is a sure sign the stk's have shorted.  I can't seem to locate the fuses.  I see several resistors around the stk's, I didn't pay too much attention to the ohm reading (they all were very close), I was looking for something to be open.  I don't have any problem replacing the stk-392-110 IC's, but is there a way to prove one or both are bad?

Thanks in advance

Changing the convergence

Changing the convergence chips corrected the problems with that tv, then a friend wanted to buy it so I let him. My latest venture was given to me and is a monster 64" philips that was dead. I got it working but it needs a fluid change. I've never done that but I found a few pages with instructions, it doesn't seem too bad? I'm also working on a Samsung DLP, I'm really struggling with this one. I believe the DMD board is bad, I'd sure like to prove it before I bought a replacement. I'm not an experienced tv repairman, I'm just trying to put some electronics classes to good use and learn a little.
