Rear Projection TV - color problem

I have a 1992 51'' rear projection TV that was recently given to me. It's a Panasonic model TPT51XF20.
It seems like the blue CRT is almost dead. I was told by the previous owner that the blue color has deteriorated over several months. The picture seems to be reasonably aligned. At any time the background is greenish and people faces are reddish. In any darker scenes, I can't see much at all. The brightness is almost at its maximum. The color selection is also high. If I go in the menu, I can't see the white cursor as I move through the various selections.

I removed the front screen then I turned on the TV, the red and green lights were so strong through the mirror. The blue was hardly noticeable.
I opened the back cover and noticed that the 3 filaments were lit (orange).
There is a replacement tube available for 165$US, the part number is TXFCRT31SER.

With the symptoms described above,

Is the blue CRT the problem or could it be something else?
Is there anything else I should look for?
What's involved in replacing the tube?
Can I do it myself without any sophisticated equipment and with minimum knowledge?
Where could I find instructions?

Thanks for any assistance.

I added more details and I

I added more details and I rephrased some of my questions.

I have a 1992 51'' rear projection TV that was recently given to me. It's a Panasonic model TPT51XF20 and I don't know what to do with it! I don't know anything about TV repair.
The previous owner had spent close to 800$CDN just to get the main board replaced in the unit. He also mentioned that the blue color has deteriorated over several months in the past year.
It seems like the blue CRT is almost dead. The picture seems to be reasonably aligned. At any time the background is greenish and people faces are reddish. I removed the front screen then I turned on the TV, the red and green lights were so strong / bright through the mirror. The blue was hardly noticeable.
I opened the back cover and noticed that the 3 filaments were lit (orange).
I found a replacement tube available for 219$CDN, the part number is TXFCRT31SER.
I can get a Tech to look at it for 50$CDN, he said replacing the tube (if needed) will cost 200$CDN.

With the symptoms described above, my questions are:

Can this tube be repaired or better off replacing it?
Is this Panasonic model worth fixing, keeping in mind I didn't spend any money on it yet?
Can some other expensive parts brake down afterwards?
Could it be something else?

Thanks very much in advance for your advice.

it takes time and you need to

it takes time and you need to know what you are doing get a service manual or see how much the tech would charge just to do the allignment and convergance then install it yourself .

remember to take into account that the tv is gettin pritty old it maybe best to get a new one, cut your losses
