problem with toshibia 34hfx83

I have a toshibia 34hfx83 tv and the picture during bright sunny days is the best I have seen on a tv. The problem and I know this sound strange is that on cloudy days and at night the picture is not quite as good, the picture is darker and the color is not as good. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Your particular model may have an ambient light sensor that evaluates the lighting level in the room and adjusts the picture accordingly. Check the menu for such an option.

I thought that could be what it was but there is no mention of it having an light sensor in the service manual and I can't find anything in the menu about it having a light sensor.

I've browsed through the

I've browsed through the manual of your TV. I also saw nothing directly relating to your problem. However, I do have a few suggestions.

- If you're watching different source material during the day than at night could explain the difference.

-The CableClear DNR function could be at fault. I would try disabling it and evaluating the results.

-When adjusting your image setting, make sure you save your settings by using the save preference option.

-Check all of your cables for a loose or intermittent connection.

If none of those help, I would try performing some experiments. See if you can start in a dark room and turn on a really bright light and watch for any noticeable changes in the image quality.

In the end, you may need to have a technician out to evaluate the TV.

Best of luck. Keep us posted on your progress.
